Summary[edit]
DescriptionCape Raoul Columnar Dolerites.jpg |
English: View of the Columnar Dolerites which form the extremity of Cape Raoul in the Tasman National Park, Tasmania. The polygonal jointing (rectangular here) forms due to differential cooling between the core of the columns and at the edge. This leads to planes of weakness along the edges of the polygon, which when weathered form outcrops with the spectacular columns. |
